Crane Poole & Schmidt

Oh my, I am so pumped for the fifth season of "Boston Legal."  I couldn't watch the premiere Monday night due to Spell Bowl, but I had it taped in my absence.  I just got to watch it last night, and it was fantastic.  I went the official web site to look up who the lawyers would be (* - of course), and I was pretty happy!  See for yourself -

~ Alan Shore* - The complex, eccentric, and articulate Alan Shore is known for championing the underdog and drawing attention to societal ills-even (or especially) when doing so means resorting to ethically dubious tactics. A passionate defender of human rights, he has taken on cases involving assisted suicide, free speech, gay rights, immigration, Guantanamo Bay and the war in Iraq.

Shore is known not only for his politically divisive cases--often capped by an impassioned closing argument-but also for his voracious sexual appetite, his mysterious past, and his various peccadilloes, including night terrors, a fear of clowns, and bouts of "word salad" that render him incapable of coherent speech.

Above all, Shore treasures his friendship with Denny Crane-a most unlikely kindred spirit-and sets aside a part of each day to celebrate it on the balcony.

~ Denny Crane* - An outrageous, egotistical, unwavering conservative with self-diagnosed Mad Cow Disease, the one-of-a-kind Denny Crane is always eager to trumpet his achievements, his sexual conquests, and of course, his name.

Despite his age, his declining memory, and the fact that his "penis only works on medication," Denny still shows flashes of the brilliance that made him a living legend, and he is as committed as ever to his hobbies: fishing, drinking Scotch, smoking cigars, operating firearms, evading jail time, and of course, wooing women. Denny's past paramours include multiple ex-wives, a dwarf and her mother, a woman with a peg leg, a Barbra Streisand impersonator, and his one true love: Shirley Schmidt.

With his "name on the door" and his best friend Alan Shore by his side, he remains the one and only...Denny Crane.

WilliamShatner

~ Shirley Schmidt*** =) - Confident, focused and wry, founding partner Shirley Schmidt keeps a vigilant eye on everyone at the firm, particularly former flame and loose cannon Denny Crane. A formidable presence both in person and in court, Shirley is not easily intimidated. Last season, she tangled with her ex-husband, Carl Sack, defended a cannibal, delivered an incisive commentary on modern-day racism, and escaped from a psychotic kidnapper. Now, there's a new man in her life--much to the dismay of the still-besotted Denny Crane.

CandiceBergen

~ Carl Sack - A tough leader, Senior partner Carl Sack transferred to Boston from the Crane, Poole, & Schmidt New York office as the new head of litigation with the intent of shaping up the staff--breaking a long-standing deal to keep away from Denny Crane. Despite his experience, Sack struggles to find his place in the decidedly unconventional environment of CPS, but is intent on staying--if not for the job, then for Shirley Schmidt.

JohnLarroquette

~ Clarence Bell - An inherently shy assistant and part-time lawyer, Clarence sometimes faces challenges as one of his alter egos--most often the boisterous Clarice. Last season, he filed a civil suit against his former employer for not being allowed to take maternity leave, defended an enslaved housekeeper accused of murder, and teamed up with Jerry Espenson to take on a world-class casino.

GaryAnthonyWilliams

~ Jerry Espenson - A brilliant attorney afflicted with Aspergers Syndrome--and perhaps some Tourette's tendencies--Espenson's painfully awkward social skills are tempered by his incredible legal acumen. After being fired from Crane Poole and Schmidt when he took ShirleySchmidt hostage at knife-point for denying him partnership, Espenson established a successful private practice of his own and proved a formidable opponent to his former office mates. Now rehired as an active trial attorney at CPS, he continues to battle his physical afflictions with charm, intelligence and wit.

ChristianClemenson

~ Katie Lloyd - Earnest, inexperienced and idealistic, native Brit and recent Harvard grad Katie jumped into her job at CPS head first, taking on--and winning--a murder trial as her first order of business. Key to her success was her ability to see beyond the surface of the accused and present his fragility in court, and this quality has since held her in good stead. Highly competent but unfailingly polite, Katie has found a friend in her officemate, Jerry Espenson, and together they've formed a sensitive team to offset some of the harsher personalities around them.

TaraSummers

~ Lorraine Weller - A sexy, sophisticated litigator, Lorraine once had a passionate affair with Alan Shore, the chemistry of which still lingers and distracts. After arguing a case against Shirley Schmidt (Candice Bergen) she was invited to join CPS as an associate, much to the chagrin of Shore--who finds her utterly, maddeningly, irresistible.

SaffronBurrows

~ Whitney Rome - Strong-willed and confident, associate Whitney Rome burst into the halls of Crane, Poole, & Schmidt with flair, electing to transfer herself from the New York offices following a rough break up.Hours after demanding an office and a case to distract her, Whitney found herself arguing in court on behalf of a pint-sized bullfighter.
